The function of the office of Code Enforcement is to enhance and protect the health, safety, and well being of residents, property owners, and businesses in the City of Forrest City.
The department accomplishes its mission through inspections of all new construction as well as remodels. All construction is required to have permits for building, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and gas inspections. Some cases may also warrant the condemning of nuisance structures and removing nonworking vehicles.

Building codes currently being used are:

• Arkansas Fire Prevention Code, Volume 1,2, and 3, 2007 edition NEC 2008

• Arkansas Plumbing Code 2006

• Arkansas Fuel Gas Code 2006

• Arkansas Mechanical Code 2003
