A heat advisory has been issued for the mid-south region, in effect from 11 o’clock this (Monday) morning until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service says that heat index values up to 109 degrees are expected. Weather officials warn that hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat-related illnesses. Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, check up on relatives and neighbors, and try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening.

SCAM ALERT!!!! SCAM ALERT!!!!! PLEASE BE AWARE Arkansas State Police is warning people to be aware of a text message scam regarding the status of your Concealed Handgun Carry License. (Channel 8, Jonesboro) ASP said in a news release this week that someone has been sending out text messages indicating that the recipient’s concealed carry license is expiring, with a link provided to renew it. ASP says that these texts did not come from them and warns citizens not to click on the link. All concealed carry renewals must go through the Arkansas State Police website.
