We need various essential items to support those affected. East Arkansas Community College invites area kids to join Addie Devazier for a fun filled day making tree ornaments and other holiday decorations. The class is coming up Saturday, October 12th from 12-4 p.m. and is geared for kids in 2nd thru 8th grades.

The Forrest City School District has opened its 2024-25 After School Meals Program. Meals will be served at Central Elementary School, Stewart Elementary School, and Forrest City Junior High School on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through April 2025. Forrest City High School will serve meals Monday through Wednesday through May 2025. Here are some key points about domestic violence: Types of Domestic Violence 1. Physical Abuse: Includes hitting, slapping, shoving, and any physical harm. 2. Emotional/Psychological Abuse: Involves manipulation, intimidation, isolation, and verbal attacks that undermine self-worth. 3. Sexual Abuse: Any non-consensual sexual contact or behavior, including coercion. 4. Financial Abuse: Controlling a partner’s access to financial resources, restricting them ability to work or misusing their finances.

What is Breast Cancer? Breast cancer occurs when cells in the breast begin to grow uncontrollably. It can start in different parts of the breast, including the ducts (which carry milk to the nipple) and lobules (which produce milk). Types of Breast Cancer -Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC): The most common type, starting in the milk ducts and invading surrounding tissues. -Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC): Begins in the lobules and can spread to nearby tissues. -Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS): A non-invasive cancer where cells inside the ducts have changed but have not spread. -Triple-Negative Breast Cancer: Lacks three common receptors (estrogen, progesterone, and HER2), making it harder to treat. -HER2-Positive Breast Cancer: Has higher levels of the HER2 protein, which promotes the growth of cancer cells. Risk Factors -Genetic: Mutations in genes like BRCA1 and BRCA2 significantly increase risk. -Age: Risk increases with age. -Family History: A family history of breast cancer can raise risk. -Hormonal Factors: Early menstruation, late menopause, and hormone replacement therapy can influence risk. -Lifestyle: Obesity, physical inactivity, and excessive alcohol intake are associated with increased risk. Symptoms -A lump or mass in the breast or underarm area. -Changes in breast size or shape. -Skin changes (dimpling, puckering, or redness). -Nipple discharge (other than milk) or changes in the nipple. Diagnosis -Mammogram: An X-ray of the breast used for screening. -Ultrasound: Helps distinguish between solid masses and fluid-filled cysts. -Biopsy: The removal of a sample of breast tissue for testing. Staging -Breast cancer is staged from 0 to IV based on size, lymph node involvement, and whether it has spread to other parts of the body. Treatment Options -Surgery: Lumpectomy (removing the tumor) or mastectomy (removing one or both breasts). -Radiation Therapy: Targeted radiation to kill remaining cancer cells post-surgery. -Chemotherapy: Use of drugs to kill cancer cells, often before or after surgery. -Hormone Therapy: For cancers sensitive to hormones (like estrogen). -Targeted Therapy: Medications that target specific characteristics of cancer cells (e.g., HER2-targeted therapies). Prognosis and Survival Rates -Survival rates vary based on the stage at diagnosis, type of cancer, and individual factors. Early detection typically leads to better outcomes. Prevention While there's no guaranteed way to prevent breast cancer, some strategies may reduce risk: Regular screenings and mammograms. -Maintaining a healthy weight, being physically active, and limiting alcohol intake. -Discussing family history and genetic testing options with a healthcare provider.

This plan addresses the environmental management and conservation needs for the communities of Forrest City, Haynes, and Marianna.
