The National Hurricane Center is forecasting Beryl to make landfall south of Houston, Texas as a category 1 hurricane then turn to the northeast and move over Arkansas.
By the time Beryl moves over the Natural State, it will most likely have weakened into a tropical depression, which could produce winds at 30 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph.
The main threat for Arkansas will be severe weather, more specifically tornadoes. It’s common for the remnants of a tropical system to spawn short-lived tornadoes.
The Storm Prediction Center has parts of Arkansas under a level 2 “low risk” for severe weather Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning. They have much of the state under a level 1 “very low risk” category.
The other potential impact in the state from the hurricane is flooding, with up to 3-6″ of rainfall possible in the western half of the state. Flood-prone areas could be at risk.
The Safer Streets for All Forum was well attended by concerned citizens, city officials, and representatives from Gavers. The engineers from Gavers presented on various strategies and solutions to make the streets safer for all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. They discussed the importance of proper street design, traffic calming measures, and the implementation of new technologies to improve safety. Citizens had the opportunity to voice their concerns and ask questions about specific problem areas in the city. Many expressed their frustration with speeding drivers, lack of sidewalks, and poorly marked crosswalks. The engineers listened attentively and took notes on all the feedback provided. Overall, the forum was a great success in bringing together the community and experts to work towards making the streets safer for all. The city officials and Gavers engineers committed to following up on the concerns raised and developing a plan of action to address them. The citizens left feeling heard and hopeful for positive change in their city.

SHARE - AR State Health Alliance for Records Exchange Congratulations are due to Ms. Sharren Henderson, Administrative Assistant/Special Projects for City of Forrest City. Ms. Henderson is the winner of June’s drawing. June is Mental Health Awareness Month. The Share Health Education Campaign includes 12 ready-to-distribute workplace newsletters and educational handouts for each month's health topics. The content has important health highlights, clinical screening recommendations (if applicable) current scientific/ medical guidelines relative to the topic as well as recipes and an interactive activity. The interactive activity has been designed to increase employee engagement. Research studies have shown that hands-on, experimental actions (kinesthetic learning) not only generate more participation, but also influences knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and future health behaviors. Congratulations again Ms. Sharren Henderson for winning the drawing and thank you to all employees who are actively participating in the campaign.
